About Us

Throughout Huron and Perth County there are 65 school buildings with approximately 20,500 students attending. Each day over 12,000 students ride a big, or little, yellow school bus or van to and from school. The fleet of 343 buses covers more than 37,500 kilometres each day.

Membership

Huron Perth Student Transportation Services (HPSTS) is a consortium of two school board partners which serve Public and Catholic students living in Huron and Perth Counties.

Mission

To allow students the opportunity to learn by providing safe, secure, on time transportation through cost effective and quality management.

Administration

The administrative team is lead by General Manager Janice White along with Mary Lou Bilcke, Transportation Supervisor, and Route Planners, Elaine Merner, Ashley Smith, and Shari MacDonald.

Management

The Transportation Management Committee acts as HPSTS Board of Directors. It meets regularly, and operates at arms length from the Boards to oversee policies and procedures and develop long and short-term goals.

Funding

The school boards receive grants for transportation from the Province of Ontario which are based on the number of students who are provided with service. The Boards pay the full amount of the cost of transporting their students, even if the grants do not cover the total amount.

Safety First

HPSTS in conjunction with the OPP, local Police, and the 8-36 Bus Operators Association have adopted various safety initiatives to ensure that our students have a safe ride to and from school each day. Click here for more details
